Part-time Professorship

In addition to full-time professors, we also welcome leading and upcoming scientists from various fields of medicine to join our team as part-time staff. For those who cannot work full-time in China, flexible arrangements are available without rigid on-campus time requirements, to:

apply and undertake key research projects at SUMC;
publish SCI papers as first or corresponding author;
train postgraduate students in research and manuscript writing; and
lecture in related disciplines.

We are looking for candidates that:

have undertaken major research projects;
have published at SCI papers as first author or corresponding author with an aggregate impact factor of 30 or more;
have excellent proficiency in medical English;
excellent leadership and interpersonal skills;
hold professorships elsewhere; and
are highly motivated to join our team.

Performance-based salary

We introduced a performance-based incentive system for our part-time faculty. Salary may vary depending on performance during the relevant contract period prior to each evaluation. The below chart provides an indication of our requirements in terms of research productivity for our part-time professors. Other factors to be taken into account include individual teaching performance, team performance and leadership skills.
