Providing medical education is our primary responsibility. We are committed to offering comprehensive medical programs of the highest quality to our students.

Several of our programs are listed as key national or key provincial disciplines, and each year our College is granted major educational awards and prizes. Our programs are consistently among the first choices for top students in Guangdong and many other provinces in China.

Our admission policy is based on student quality, not on enrollment figures. As a rule, only students whose first choice of enrollment is SUMC will be considered for admission. At present, there are 2,885 students enrolled in educational programs at our College, including 1,515 undergraduate students, 1,249 master stduents and 113 doctorate students. The enrolment rates with SUMC as the first choice have reached 100% for 21 consecutive years.

Our educational approach has a proven track record of success. In recent years we have consistently ranked among the top performing schools of over 100 medical schools nationwide according to the exam results of our students in the National Medical Licensure Examination. Similarly, the average pass-rates of SUMC participants in the College English Test (CET) have substantially surpassed those of key universities in China over the past years. We also prepare our students for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), and have started selecting students from the English-based medical program to take the USMLE since 2012. In the past six years, our selected students from the English-based medical program achieved over 93% pass rates in the USMLE Step 1. The average annual employment rate for our fresh graduates has been between 97-100%, topping the ranks in Guangdong ever since the provincial government began publishing these figures in 2001.
