University of Saskatchewan delegation visits SUMC

A delegation from the University of Saskatchewan at Canada, headed by Dr. Gordon Barnhart, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor, paid a visit to SUMC on December 28. They were warmly received by Dean Junhui Bian of SUMC and Dr. Frieda Law, Executive Director of Li Ka Shing Shantou University Foundation and Consultant of SUMC. The guests spoke highly of the charity projects supported by Li Ka Shing Foundation as well as the education reforms and achievements of SUMC. During the visit, both sides had in-depth discussion on potential collaborations in the fields of student exchange and Team Science.

University of Saskatchewan is a Canadian public research university, founded in 1907. Currently there are 21 thousand students enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan. The University is a member of the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities which is an association of 15 Canadian public research universities, and ranks among the top ten Canadian research universities. Its research is predominantly in light source synchrotron, infectious diseases and vaccines. In 2003, the Department of Physics at the University, which is noted for its excellence in research and innovation, undertook the Canadian Light Source project with a budget of $173.5 million.
