“I’m glad to announce that the SUMC Second Affiliated Hospital now becomes a Grade III Class A general hospital through the on-site assessment according to the Rules for the Implementation of Evaluation Criteria of Grade III General Hospital (2011 Edition) on behalf of the Guangdong Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission.” As Wu Hansen, leader of the expert team of the Guangdong Provincial Hospital Management Evaluation and Quality Control Center, read this out at the feedback meeting about the Grade III general hospital on-site assessment on November 1, the conference center of the Medical Center Building of the SUMC Second Affiliated Hospital was filled up with loud and long-lasting applauses.

From October 30 to November 1, 2017, the Guangdong Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission appointed the Hospital Management Evaluation and Quality Control Center to conduct an on-site Grade III general hospital assessment on the SUMC Second Affiliated Hospital. The expert team consisting of seven groups in management, medical care, nursing, infection control, pharmacy, etc., conducted a thorough assessment on the aspects of quality, safety, service, management and performance by means of documentation review, report hearing, medical records review, field visit, field testing and interview in strict conformity with the Rules for the Implementation of Evaluation Criteria of Grade III General Hospital (2011 Edition).

“Passing the on-site assessment is not the end of our work, and we are always on the way of becoming a better hospital. The whole medical staff will put the experts’ opinions and suggestions into practice carefully in order to keep improving medical techniques and service outcomes, and will participate actively in urban public hospital reform to make further achievements in hospital management, medical care, teaching and research,” as Director Wang Changzhi of the SUMC Second Affiliated Hospital indicated in his speech.
