On November 8-10, 2018, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Chinese Sleep Research Society, Shantou University Medical College (SUMC) and Shantou University (STU) Mental Health Center co-hosted the East-West Alliance in Sleep Medicine and 1st China-Israel International Sleep Medicine Symposium in Shantou.

Vice Mayor Lin Yimin of Shantou Government, Chair Han Fang of Chinese Sleep Research Society, President Peretz Lavie of Technion, Vice President Lin Danming of STU, Dr Frieda Law of LKS Foundation, Executive Dean Junhui Bian of SUMC, Director Huang Qingjun of STU Mental Health Center attended the opening ceremony and gave opening remarks on the morning of November 9.

The Symposium saw more than 250 participants, including well-renowned experts in sleep medicine from home and abroad, faculty and students. The two-day Symposium was composed of plenaries, keynote lectures, workshops of Scientific Writing, Annual Review and Principles and Practice of Sleep Technology, and case studies, to exchange scientific ideas and recent advances in sleep medicine.

This was China’s first Symposium in Sleep Medicine providing a platform for the academic exchange in sleep medicine between the East and the West.
