The SUMC Associated Longgang District Central Hospital of Shenzhen was founded in 1952. It is the largest general hospital in eastern Shenzhen, a booming city and Special Economic Zone bordering Hong Kong – some 300 kilometers south of Shantou – with over 10 million inhabitants.

The Longgang District Central Hospital of Shenzhen is a level 3 hospital providing comprehensive health care to millions of patients annually. Among its many distinctive specialties medical rehabilitation, interventional imaging and otolaryngology (ENT) have gained special recognition as provincial distinctive specialties. Other key specialties include general surgery, hand surgery, stomatology, gynecology & obstetrics, orthopedics and psychiatry.

The hospital has around 880 beds and 2,089 staff members, with 38 clinical departments, 17 technical departments, 2 specialist clinics and 19 community health centers. As a key internationally oriented medical research and education center, it became an associated teaching hospital of SUMC in 2007.
