The Cancer Research Center of SUMC is an innovative research institute within SUMC focusing on multi-disciplinary cancer research. Through close collaboration with the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of SUMC, our Center offers combined strengths and extensive expertise in cancer research and clinical oncology.

Our research focuses on the regulation and control of gene expression in cancer stem cells and the molecular and cellular mechanisms for tumor invasion and metastasis. We are especially interested in interdisciplinary research activities such as studying the temporal and spatial dynamics of specific tumor markers and their interactions in real-time in vivo with the optical molecular imaging (OMI) system and developing individualized therapeusis for cancer patients.

We have established collaborative ties with many renowned universities and institutes worldwide, including the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Still in an early phase of development, we will continue to make efforts great efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration and further develop our center. We are also actively looking to expand our current research team with leading scientists from China and abroad.
