On May 11, 2020, SUMC First Affiliated Hospital signed a cooperation agreement with Dr. Cai Zhiming, Fellow of The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) ’s College of Fellows. Both sides will cooperate in a variety of fields including development of innovative research platforms, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, talent training and exchange, and research projects. The signing ceremony was chaired by SUMC Dean Tan Xuerui, and Party Secretary Zeng Dabin, Vice Director Chen Yongsong and other senior representatives of SUMC First Affiliated Hospital attended the ceremony.

Dr. Cai Zhiming, MD, PhD, Professor and Chief Physician, Department of Urological Surgery at First Affiliated Hospital of Shenzhen University, co-founded China's first infrastructure for synthetic biology and Innovation Institute of Synthetic Biology. Dr Cai was nominated, reviewed, and elected by peers and members of AIMBE College of Fellows in March 2020.

The two sides will be committed to promoting the partnership. We look forward that cooperation with Dr. Cai’s research team with strong research background and innovative ideas will help our hospital boost its scientific research and competitiveness level.
