About CRU
Clinical Research Unit of Shantou University Medical College (CRU-SUMC) was initially established as Shantou-Oxford Clinical Research Unit (SOCRU) on May 15, 2010, for a collaboration between SUMC and the University of Oxford in the field of scientific research related to human health through ethical clinical and public health research. SOCRU was formally renamed CRU-SUMC at the end of the collaboration on Apr 1, 2018, but its functions remain the same.
CRU's mission is to promote regional health through Research, Training, and Education. To achieve its goal, CRU (i) develops clinical research projects in hospitals in Shantou and other Chinese cities, (ii) provides opportunities to Chinese students and scientists to exchange academic expertise and research ideas with international scientists through domestic/oversea training and education at oversea universities, and (iii) hosts educational and training courses on scientific research and evidence-based practice for undergraduate and graduate students and clinicians.
