On January 15-19, 2014, seven faculty members from SUMC, namely Dr. Zhang Zhongfang, Dr. Huang Zhanqin, Dr. Zhang Yanzhen, Dr. Long Ting, Dr. Liu Shuhui, Dr. Lin Changmin and Dr. Lin Yan, participated in the 11th Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference (APMEC) which was held in National University of Singapore. APMEC is one of the greatest events in the field of medical education in Asia Pacific.

This year the conference saw around 800 delegates from many renowned medical schools from USA, UK, Canada, Sweden and some Asian countries. The participants exchanged views on the theme of “Optimising Collaboration in Medical Education - Building Bridges, Connecting Minds - Trends, Issues, Priorities, Strategies (TIPS)”, and they also attended a wide variety of workshops. During the conference, the seven delegates from SUMC talked about the reform measures they had adopted to improve the teaching at SUMC.

This conference was a great platform for SUMC and our faculties whereby we could exchange the accomplishments of educational reforms with the other prestigious medical schools, and meanwhile we acquired a better understanding of the gaps in SUMC education and research and how to improve. Also, SUMC is organizing workshops where the seven delegates will share with the other colleagues what they have learnt at the conference.
