Dr. Daxi Li, Chairman of the Chinese Association for Science and Business (CASB), visited Shantou University Medical College (SUMC) on September 10th. He was warmly welcomed by Prof. Junhui Bian, Executive Dean of SUMC together with other representatives.

At the meeting, Dr. Li gave a talk on the global financial crisis. He analyzed the international financial situation and pointed out that the third industrial revolution is just around the corner and that 3D printing technology is a possible trigger for the third industrial revolution. He then went on to talk about 3D bio-printed skin. The meeting was climaxed with heated discussions about the directions for further cooperation.

Other participants included the representatives from Shantou Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Shantou Light Industry Equipment Research Institute, College of Engineering, Cheung Kong School of Art and Design and Medical College of Shantou University, First Affiliated Hospital and Second Affiliated Hospital of SUMC.

Dr. Li is currently Chairman of CASB. In the early 80’s, Dr. Li received his PhD in Physics from the City University of New York. Then during his postdoctoral studies, Dr. Li focused his research on quark mass and superstring theory - the most popular subjects in the field of theoretical physics at that time. In 1990, his interest shifted from physics to finance. He worked for several famous investment companies in the United States, and oversaw many important initial public offerings and venture capital investments. In 1997, Dr. Li initiated the establishment of CASB. He has been dedicated to promoting venture capital in China and to developing the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese High-Tech Venture Park to draw overseas Chinese professionals back to China.
