On November 26, the China-Canada Psychiatric Resident Training Symposium, co-hosted by Guangdong Psychiatrist Association and Shantou University Mental Health Center, was held in Shantou. The symposium gathered more than 60 experts, including professionals in psychiatric resident training from University of Alberta, Peking University and SUMC as well as representatives from some other institutes.

The symposium was focused on psychiatric resident training. Nine international and domestic experts gave lectures on resident training base administration, faculty development, training course setting, and international exchange. SUMC representatives briefed on student recruitment, education and administration of SUMC’s resident training bases. Afterwards, the participants exchanged their latest research achievements in psychiatric pharmacogenetics, neuroimaging and novel drug development. 

This symposium provided an opportunity for academic exchanges between the resident training bases at home and abroad and was aimed at promoting the development of resident training.
