The Year-2008 Master graduate student of Biochemicals and Molecularbiology from SUMC, Mr. Haifeng Zhang, who are currently pursuing the SUMC-UA Joint PhD program at the University of Alberta was awarded the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (FoMD) and Alberta Health Services (AHS) Med Star Graduate Student Award in March 2014 for recognition of his and his supervisor’s outstanding research publication in Carcinogenesis titled “miR-200b suppresses invasiveness and modulates the cytoskeletal and adhesive machinery in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cells via targeting Kindlin-2” with a factor of influence of 5.64. In pursuit of the joint PhD degree, Mr. Zhang studied two years at SUMC supervised by Prof. Liyan Xu and Prof. Enming Li, and then he went to the University of Alberta in October 2012 for the last two years’ study, where he was supervised by Dr. Raymond Lai.
