Prof. Xia Huo attended the WHO Working Meeting on E-waste and Children’s Health which was held at the WHO headquarters in Geneva between 11 and 13 June 2013 and acted as co-chair for the working group on exposures during the meeting.

The meeting was attended by more than 30 participants, including experts on e-waste and child health from around the world and delegates from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other international organizations. Among the research papers reviewed during the meeting, those published by Prof Huo’s teams in international journals accounted for 57%, providing the meeting with plenty of research data. The meeting consisted of keynote lectures, thematic sessions and working groups and discussions on child exposures to e-waste, health impacts and feasible interventions and policies. The recommendations proposed by the participants are invaluable for WHO in defining next steps to protect children from e-waste.
