The First Affiliated Hospital of SUMC recently became the first of its kind in Shantou to win the title of “Guangdong Provincial Energy Efficient Demonstration Medical Unit” based upon a comprehensive evaluation by the Health Department of Guangdong Province. 

Since 2014, the First Affiliated Hospital has been stepping up energy conservation and emissions reduction efforts and has achieved good results. For example, the newly established solar photovoltaic project can generate 1.3 million kilowatt-hours (kwh) of electricity per year, saving one million yuan on electricity bills, and almost all workplaces, except in-patient areas and Medical Record Department, have achieved paperless work.

This great honor will encourage the hospital to continue their efforts to be an eco-friendly hospital.
