From March 2nd to 4th, 2016, teachers and students from the School of Nursing and the Oncology Hospital went to the Nethersole School of Nursing at the Chinese University of Hong Kong for the 6th Pan-Pacific Nursing Conference and 1st Colloquium on Chronic Illness Care. Other nursing schools present include Johns Hopkins University, University of British Columbia, UCLA, Baylor University, Peking Union Medical College, and Fudan University. There were over 500 nursing experts in attendance. Experts such as Patricia M. Davidson and Patsy Yates talked about the development and current views in nursing education, clinical nursing, and chronic disease managment.

SUMC is one of the 17 co-organisers of this international event. Oncology nurse Zheng and graduate student Chen both did their own oral and poster presentations, with good comments from the experts. It is also the first time a clinical nurse and a graduate nursing student have presented at an international academic conference.
