The Reproductive Medicine Research Center at SUMC was established in 1996. It is SUMC's central research base and learning center in the area of reproductive medicine, offering master programs, PhD programs and post-doctorate programs to our students.

By integrating in-depth expertise in the field of reproductive biology, molecular biology, reproductive toxicology, stem cell and regenerative medicine, cytogenetics and cell biology, our center provides a multi-disciplinary platform for the study of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of reproductive problems. Our main research interests are:

• transmission of infectious viruses via germ lines;
• directional differentiation of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells;
• spermatogenesis in testis and regulating mechanisms;
• the relationship between urogenital development and environmental factors.

Over the past few years, we have completed over 30 research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and several other state or provincial level institutions. To date, our center has published over 15 academic books and 300 articles have been published, including some 60 SCI-indexed publications. Our center has won several international and national research awards and prizes and was designated as key laboratory in a provincial project aimed at promoting medical science and education. We maintain cooperative ties with several scientific institutes in the US, Canada and Japan.

The center consists of 9 staff members and is currently headed by Prof. Tian-Hua Huang.
