The Cardiovascular Research Center (CRC) is a relatively new research department within Shantou University Medical College. It was established in 2008 with the support from the Li Ka Shing Foundation.

The goal of the center is to advance human health through further investigation into the mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases. Our main research interests are:

• signal transduction in endothelial cells;
• molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis and development of atherosclerosis;
• metabolic pathways of arachidonic acid and their role in vascular diseases; and
• small-molecule vasoactive substances.

We strive to build an innovative, internationally oriented, multidisciplinary center for education, research and drug-development in the field of cardiovascular diseases. For that purpose, we have also established strong cooperative ties with several domestic and overseas institutions, including Peking University, University of California, New York Medical College and Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Still in an early phase of development, we will continue to make efforts to strengthen and expand our national and international collaborations. We are also actively looking to expand our current research team consisting of 3 faculties and 2 research fellows. We welcome competent, highly motivated and reliable applicants from both China and abroad.
